RoHS Directive
The RoHS Directive deals with the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment “put on the market” on, or after, 1st July 2006
As of the 1st July 2006 Producers of certain categories of electrical and electronic equipment are no longer able to put on the market products that contain the six “banned” substances unless specific exemptions apply.
Lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl and polybrominated biphenyl ethers can not be used at levels above the maximum concentration values (see below).
Scope, as described within the legislation, is equipment in Annex 1A of the WEEE Directive and designed for use with a voltage rating not exceeding 1000V AC or 1500V DC.
